Julie is a Partner with Nelson Mullins practicing in the areas of pharmaceutical and medical device litigation, product liability, business litigation, and electronic discovery and litigation readiness. A member of the Nelson Mullins Encompass Leadership Team, Julie brings to Encompass over ten years of experience in handling all aspects of case assessment and development in complex product liability and business litigation matters and inquiries from government regulators, with a substantive knowledge of issues related to electronic discovery as well as document collection, review, and production.


  • Has represented pharmaceutical manufacturers in cases involving prescription drugs, including hormonal and promotility agents, and over-the-counter medications
  • Experience with class action and multi-district litigation
  • Has handled complex litigation, including removal, fact and expert discovery, electronic discovery, motions practice, and trial preparation
  • Experience with commercial litigation and business disputes involving claims of breach of contract and business torts
  • Counsels clients, including in the automotive, financial, healthcare, insurance, pharmaceutical, and tobacco industries, on a variety of electronic discovery issues, including defensible strategies for the collection and production of electronically stored information, selection and management of electronic discovery vendors, and alternative review methods such as technology assisted review
  • Routinely coordinates and manages large-scale, cost-effective document reviews in multi-million dollar litigation, internal and government investigations, and regulatory matters, including inquiries from U.S. and other government regulators, FCPA matters, SEC and FTC subpoena responses, and state AG investigations
  • Recently completed management of a review which involved production of over 2 million documents in multiple jurisdictions and over 400 privilege logs and supplemental privilege logs


Julie serves on the Board of Directors of Communities in Schools of the Midlands and is a member of the Young Leader’s Society of the United Way of the Midlands. She regularly participates in pro bono activities, including drafting wills for first responders as part of the Firm’s Wills for Heroes program, volunteering with Innersole, and working with high school students through the Firm's Street Law program.
